Honors/Awards conferred on Chapter Members
1. The creation of National PR song by Dr. Manohar Prabhakar, patron of Jaipur Chapter of PRSI, continues to be considered a major contribution in propagating the message of PR.
2. The Bhopal based Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism awarded its prestigious fellowship of Rs. 1 lakh to noted author and patron of Jaipur Chapter PRSI – Dr. Manohar Prabhakar for a period of one year during 2007. He has completed his research and submitted the critical study of Hindi Journalism in Rajasthan during the post independence era. This study will form a part of ambitious project of the History of language Press in India from 1947 to 2005. Dr. Manohar Prabhakar, was also felicitated for his excellence in journalistic writing by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje on 7th October 2007. Besides at another function organized in the memory of Late leading Journelist, Shri Gopal Purohit for his cultural writing.
Dr.Adarsh Sharma: Executive Member, received the Rajasthan Sahitya Academy award of Rs. 15000/- for her collection of satirical writings during the year 2007.
Dr. Jawahar Karnawat, Vice President and Dr. Sanjeev Bhanawat, Members of the National Council of PRSI, participated in the World Hindi Convention held in New York- USA during the year 2007.
Dr. D.P.Agarwal – Academic Consultant of the chapter, received Rajasthan Sahitya Academy Award of Rs. 15000/- for his travelogue.
Kalyan Singh Kothari- Chairman of the Chapter, received short term fellowship of Rs. 20000/- on Malnutrition and Nutrition Security with support from German Agro Action (GAA) and EU from Bangalore based NGO – Communication for Development and Learning.
Yearly Publication of PANORAMA – PR
Jaipur Chapter of PRSI, on yearly basis brought out a reference publication titled “PANORAMA – PR” on the occasion of PR Day.
Prologue
The Jaipur Chapter of PRSI, which was earlier christened as Rajasthan Chapter started functioning informally since July, 1990. However, it was formally inaugurated on April 21, 1991 by the then Governor of Rajasthan, Prof. D.P. Chattopadhyaya.
Eminent author, poet and PR practitioner, Dr. Manohar Prabhakar is the founding chairman and currently patron of the Jaipur Chapter. Under his dynamic stewardship, the Jaipur chapter has made rapid strides in the sphere of academic pursuits by organizing a large number of symposia and seminars on a wide range of topics concerning communication, media and PR. It also undertook an ambitious programme of bringing out publications on different aspects of PR in Hindi. It has also sponsored the ‘Communication Today’ quarterly which has successfully completed seven years of its existence. These activities largely owe to the endeavours of the successive chairmen of the chapter including late Prof. B.S.Thakur, Mr. R.K.Raj, Dr.Sanjeev Bhanawat, Dr. S.L.Gandhi Mr. V.K.Singhvi, Mr. K.Mehta, Dr. B.L.Bajaj, Kalyan Singh Kothari and their teams. Besides vide range of academic endeavours, a major achievement of the chapter has been its collaboration with media organizations of national and international repute such as Fredrich Ebert Foundation (Germany), Asian Mass Communication Centre, Singapore, I.L.O. (Geneva), Indian Institute of Mass Communication, National Media Centre, India Foundation for PR Education & Research, New Delhi and host of others.
P.R. Day Celebration
On 21st April 2007, as part of celebrations, the Jaipur Chapter, in tune with its traditions celebrated the P.R.Day at the Pink City Press Club, Jaipur. On this occasion the Jaipur Chapter felicitated some noted personalities for their outstanding contribution to PR, Journalism and other spheres. The Chief Guest was Shri Sunil Arora, IAS, Principal Secretary to the C.M.
During the celebration, a symposium on “Role of Media in the era of modern times” was organized. The keynote speaker on the topic was Dr. Yashwant vyas, editor of popular monthly “Aha Jindagi”.

National Conference on “Ethics in Corporate Communication: Concept and Practices
The Public Relations Society of India, Jaipur Chapter and the faculty of Management Studies, National Law University, Jodhpur jointly organized a two day National Conference on Ethics in Corporate Communication: Concept and Practices” in Jodhpur on Feb 23 & 24, 2007.
Hon’ble Justice G.N.Ray, Chairman, Press Council of India, New Delhi delivered inaugural address while Prof. (Dr.) A.K.Kaul, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Jodhpur presided. Keynote address was given by Dr. Manohar Prabhakar, Patron of Jaipur Chapter of PRSI & Vote of thanks by K.S.Kothari, Secretary, PRSI.
Prof. H.K.Bedi, Conference Chairman & Dean, Faculty of Management, NLU Jodhpur was the moving sprit behind this event.
During the technical sessions experts, academicians and about 100 delegates from different part of India discussed “Corporate Communication and Business Ethics, Public Relation Codes & Corporate Laws, Technology and Corporate Communication and Ethical Practices in Public Relations and Management. At the concluding session the Valedictory address was delivered by Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Balia, Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan. Mr. K.S.Kothari, Secretary, PRSI Jaipur presented report on Technical sessions.
Stand Up Speak Out to End Poverty by 2015 under Millennium Campaign
The Jaipur Chapter of PRSI, organized a stimulating “Stand Up Speak Out Event” on 17th October, 2007 at the Pink City Press Club, Jaipur, to support UN Millennium Campaign for reducing poverty by 2015. This event was supported by local NGO: Centre for Community Economic Development Consultant Society (CECOEDECON), Jaipur. Dr. Manohar Prabhakar, Patron of PRSI, Jaipur specially composed chorus on UN Millennium Goals. Its musical presentation was the main attraction of the event.

Symposium on “Right to Information: Action Now”
The Jaipur Chapter and Pink City Press Club, Jaipur organized symposium on “Right to Information: Action Now” at the media centre of Press Club on 23rd Feb. 2008. Hon’ble Shri Wajahat Habbibulla, Chief Information Commissioner, New Delhi delivered the inaugural address and Shri M.D.Korani, Rajasthan State Information Commissioner, presided over. The main speakers included Dr. Vikash Jha, RTI specialist from Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), New Delhi, Dr. Ajit Pathak, National President, PRSI, New Delhi and Dr. Roopa Manglani, RTI expert on perspectives on Rajasthan. PRSI, Jaipur Chapter Patron Dr. Manohar Prabhakar delivered keynote address. The quaint essence of his talk was that the journey from “Secrecy to transparency” would be incomplete unless colonial mind set of those in power was reformed.
